Was it really that long ago? I must be older than I realized. Great loss, and of course if you believe that the Beatles are dying in order of coolness, poor Ringo is next.

Yes, long ago, yet I remember it like yesterday.
I do collect pop culture memorabilia. I have many magazines and newspapers of rock n roll interest from when the events happened. I also collect Beatles, Alice Cooper, and Nirvana memorabilia in particular, and have since I was a kid in the late 60's. (Nirvana was more recent I know but my collection was good before Kurt died)
I also collect autographs of celebrities that I have met.
