I once went to a street party when Charles and Diana married... I don't think anything like THAT will ever happen again. National Street Parties for ANYTHING in Britain. For one thing the local Turkish speakers wouldn't have a clue what it was about... the Greeks hate the Turks. The Indians are more likely to know the words of the national anthem than any Brits... and so it goes on...
I don't think ANYONE in America knows the National Anthem here. I don't think anyone in the WORLD does! I wish they would change it to something everybody knows like...hmmm, lemme think... Wild Thing! hahahahaha
Dandy, when I was in the Dragons, a band I was in in college, I sometimes would put the bass down, grab a six-string and do "Wild Thing" in a sort of Marco-Hendrixy way. It made the lead singer jealous, because it diverted attention away from him. I wasn't after attention, just wanted to rock and roll, and was glad to turn the spotlight back over to him. Maybe he would have been a little more chill had he known I was singing the national anthem.
